Car sales in Egypt rise by 12.02% in First 10 Months of 2024

Car sales in Egypt increased by 12.02% during the first 10 months of 2024, reaching approximately 78.4 thousand vehicles compared to 70.01 thousand vehicles in the same period of 2023.
According to the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report, obtained by Alborsa, passenger car sales grew to 62.3 thousand units, marking an 18% rise during the first 10 months of 2024, compared to 52.8 thousand units in the corresponding period last year.
In October alone, passenger car sales amounted to 9.6 thousand units, up from 8.9 thousand units in October 2023, reflecting a 7.3% growth.
Truck sales across various categories experienced a slight increase of 0.1%, reaching 10.38 thousand units in the first 10 months of 2024, compared to 10.37 thousand units in the same period in 2023.
However, bus sales declined by 15.6%, totaling 5.6 thousand units compared to over 6.7 thousand units during the same period last year.

While annual imports have surged, monthly data shows fluctuations. In August 2024, car imports dropped to $156.1 million compared to $217.6 million in August 2023, a decrease of $61.5 million. However, other months, such as May 2024, saw notable growth, with imports climbing to $208.3 million, up from $180.9 million in May 2023—an increase of $27.4 million.
